In April 2023 Microsoft rolled out their 2023 Wave 1 release of Business Central to the public, this includes several new features and improvements that offer seamless collaboration, enhanced customer service & sales along with data visibility.  In a nutshell the new features will allow organisations to benefit from streamline operations, reduce complexity and conform to regulations more effectively.

The 2023 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 brings new innovations that provide you with significant capabilities to transform your business. The release contains hundreds of new features across Dynamics 365 applications, including Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Operations, Finance and Operations cross-app capabilities, Human Resources, Commerce, Fraud Protection, Business Central, Connected Spaces, Guides, Customer Insights, and Customer Voice, as well as Microsoft Viva Sales and Microsoft supply chain platform and its supporting products.

A few highlights from Wave 1 release of Dynamics 365 Business Central include:

  • Shopify connector becomes extensible, as previously non-extensible, but Microsoft are changing that based on feedback from their partners and customers.
  • Introducing two new actions in the Business Central connector for Power Automate, therefore being able to blend Power Automate flows into conversations in Microsoft Teams allows for enriching conversations with useful insights.
  • Business Central makes it easy to move one company’s setup to another company in the same environment, you can also synchronize master data between the companies. Master data management is intended for scenarios where you want to move the setup in one company to another company in the same environment. It’s also built as a data synchronization engine that lets you keep data in the companies synchronized after the initial move.
  • Item Tracking Lines direct on item journals allow for adjustments and opening balances to be entered with greater ease.
  • Warehouse employees can ship and receive non-inventory items, such as insurance or cost, on sales or purchase orders along with the physical goods on the orders.
  • To speed up the period-end process of reviewing and reconciling G/L accounts you can review the G/L entries for G/L accounts and mark the entries as reviewed. The G/L Review action makes the review process much faster and easier.
