Here at D365Experts, we couldn’t be happier to announce our very own John Gladman is taking part in one of the biggest challenges on the planet. John, 55 has joined the incredible Team Britannia in an epic round the world, powerboat world record attempt.
Team Britannia is a multi-million pound British bid and will be led by the incredible adventurer Alan Priddy. Alan intends on building the fastest and most fuel-efficient powerboat with the ability to quite literally slice through the waves. The powerboat will circumnavigate the world and with the team on board, John Gladman included will beat the current record of 60 days, 23 hours and 49 minutes.
Who will John be joining?
John, who founded NAVExperts will be joining the crew as part of a 19 strong team. John, along with the rest of the Team Britannia crew, will be attempting the 42,000km record attempt in October. John has been sailing since he was just a teenager. His love of sailing came from his father, a Second World War hero who served in the Royal Navy. At the tender age of 14, with his father by his side, John sailed the channel and has dreamt of sailing around the world ever since. Now, he finally gets to see that dream realised and what a way to do it.
John said, “I am over the moon to join Alan’s crew and team of experienced sailors and veterans.
“Breaking the round the world powerboat record is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. It’s a big tick on my bucket list too. I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the crew and to start training for the record attempt that looks set to take place this October.”
How will they get around?
Not only will the team have incredible experience on their side but they’ll also be benefiting from some of the best advancements in technology with the help of revolutionary equipment. The super boat itself will be constructed out of marine-grade aluminum, which will help to reduce fuel by a whopping 30%. The route itself will begin in Gibraltar and over the course of the journey will make its way through places like Puerto Rico, Singapore and Malta to name a few.
